Overview
Artists Standing Strong Together is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to supporting independent storytellers. We connect artists with vital resources through initiatives like the Storyteller Relief Fund and the Youth Standing Strong Camp, fostering a thriving community of creative individuals. ASST, "assist", provides a crucial safety net and platform for artists, offering opportunities for connection, mentorship, and performance. Our mission is to empower artists and amplify their voices, creating a more vibrant and connected artistic landscape.
We began as a response to the challenges of the global pandemic, recognizing the urgent need to support our fellow artists. Since 2020, we’ve grown into a dynamic collective, providing emergency grants, online gatherings, and virtual storytelling experiences.
What distinguishes ASST is our commitment to grassroots support and community building. We prioritize direct assistance to artists, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive. We are proud to be supported by the Durham Arts Council and the N.C. Arts Council, furthering our impact within the arts ecosystem.
