Education Law Center is a nonprofit organization based in Newark, New Jersey, dedicated to advancing the rights of public school students across the nation.

For over 50 years, ELC has been a leading advocate for equitable education, employing litigation, research, and policy advocacy to ensure every child has access to a high-quality, free public education.

What distinguishes ELC is our commitment to systemic change, tackling critical issues such as bullying, English learner support, and school funding disparities. We work collaboratively with families, educators, and community partners to build a more just and equitable education system for all.

ELC’s work has resulted in landmark court decisions, including the Abbott v. Burke litigation, which has profoundly impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of low-income students.
