Tendon Research Foundation Inc

Tendon Research Foundation Inc is a Durham, North Carolina-based non-profit research organization dedicated to revolutionizing tendon repair. We focus on funding and supporting early-stage research into novel approaches to enhance tendon and ligament growth and recovery, building on the pioneering work of Dr. Richard (Rick) Schwarz.

Our mission is to address the significant challenges associated with tendon injuries, which affect a large portion of the population and often lead to career-ending outcomes. We are committed to advancing the understanding of the adult tendon cell and its potential for natural repair, moving beyond current standard care approaches that often result in scar tissue formation and re-injury.

Through strategic partnerships with SNZR LLC, we are driving proof-of-concept studies and ultimately aiming to translate these advancements into human clinical trials, with the ultimate goal of preventing ‘career-ending injuries’ due to tendon rupture. We operate as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, relying on tax-deductible donations to fuel our vital research efforts.

Currently, our initial fundraising goal for 2026 is $0.6-1M, combining donations and private investment in SNZRpl technology.
