Creative and Entertainment

Story Pole is a documentary film that chronicles Jason LaClair’s inspiring journey of resilience and transformation, tracing his path from battling addiction to becoming an acclaimed Coast Salish artist. Through art, community, and his interactions with his elder Samuel Cagey Jr, he finds healing and purpose and offers a powerful message of hope for those struggling with addiction. This documentary is more than a story of personal recovery; it is a celebration of cultural heritage and a call to support Washington State’s Since Time Immemorial (STI) curriculum, promoting inclusivity, understanding, and a deeper appreciation of Native perspectives in education.
